Community
Jen is an active member of her community and attends regular writing workshops and book clubs. She is involved in many sporting groups and enjoys hockey, golf, softball and Olympic weightlifting. She has been on the board of one of Perth’s oldest hockey clubs since 2024, as Women’s Director.
Choir
Jen co-founded the WA Show Choir in 2020. She plays the piano while musical director Geoff Robinson leads the choir. They are a dynamic duo who keep everyone laughing. They believe ‘anyone can sing’ and enjoy the uplifting power of choral singing.
Jen was a confident pianist from a young age and has a nuanced and energetic performance style. For many years she played piano only for her own sanity and for the amusement of her children. A chance meeting with Geoff led to an invitation to accompany the Moonlighters choir in 2012. That was a lot of fun and led to the foundation of the WA Show Choir.
Apparently, most choir accompanists sit quietly and do not banter with the Musial Director, nor correct their counting, nor interrupt the choir with operatic Miss Piggy impersonations. Why not?
The choir has been a successful venture, with a committed chorale of around 70 voices. In 2025 the choir raised $6000 in one concert for the charity Every Daughter Matters, which helps young women in Nepal.
Fun
Dress ups, funny hats, long-running pranks that take months – sometimes years – before the pay off, dancing like nobody’s watching, designing t-shirts, making fabulous millinery, wearing bright colours in the winter…. These are a few of our favourite things.
Be kind. Be funny. Do the thing.
